Boyfriend Jeans

Hollywood's Jean style of the moment is the relatively new boyfriend jean. They are baggy jeans that are sometimes distressed and look like you borrowed them from, you guessed it, your boyfriend or your hubby. Many Hollywood trendsetters, like Jennifer Anniston, Reese Witherspoon and Heidi Klum have been wearing them recently and the trend is rumored to have been started by Katie Holmes.

I haven't discussed them until now because I'm really not feeling this style too much-translation: I am not really loving this style. The dilemma for me was that it took me a while to put my finger on exactly why I don't love this style.

I think it's because I don't think the style is very attractive. I am all for comfort but I'm not interested in paying upwards of $200 to look like my jeans cost $15 and were purchased at a thrift shop.

I think this is one of those trends that separates me from people who are rolling in dough. If I had a big bank roll, it wouldn't be a problem for me to invest in a pair to follow the Hollywood "it" crowd but, since money is an issue, I prefer to spend my hard earned dollars on a pair a jeans that turn heads and make me feel like a million bucks.

Where exactly are you going to wear these boyfriend jeans?

Maybe to run around and do errands on a Saturday afternoon. You're definitely not gonna wear them out on a date with a hot guy. If that's the case, I guess you can buy a pair of inexpensive brand boyfriend jeans or if you are like me, you can throw on a pair of your "fat jeans" with a belt and have a similar effect or you can actually borrow your boyfriend's jeans if he's not too much bigger than you.

My absolute favorite and best fitting jeans are the exact opposite of boyfriend jeans. They are my Earnest Sewn Decca One Rinse. They are sweet fitting, classy pair of jeans in a mesmerising dark wash and a slight bootcut. They have no rips or runs to speak of yet they have a whole lot of character.
